Where I Belong - Youth Photography Competition

Capture your identity, culture, or what makes you feel at home. We want to see the world through your eyes – whether it's a special place, a person, your community, or something that represents who you are.

Submissions received after this date, or incomplete will not be accepted.

How to Enter

Step 1: complete the sign up form

Step 2: email 1 or 2 photo submissions to Youth.Services@canning.wa.gov.au

Please make sure you:

  • include your full name in the email
  • name each photo file with its title.

This is your chance to express yourself through the lens – be bold, be creative, and show us what belonging means to you!

FAQs

The competition is open to young people aged 11–17 who live, study, or have a connection to the City of Canning.

A connection could include living in the area, going to school, being part of a local community group, or spending time regularly in the City of Canning.

Photos should reflect the theme: "Where I Belong", showcasing your identity, culture, or what makes you feel at home.
Photos must be your original work and appropriate for a public audience.

  1. Fill out the online submission form.
  2. Choose 1 or 2 original photos that suit the theme, include your full name and photographs named as per title.
  3. Email them to Youth.Services@canning.wa.gov.au

All entries must be submitted by 5 September 2025.

Late entries will not be accepted.

Yes, you’ll need permission from a parent or guardian to take part in the competition.

Winners will be chosen based on:

  • Creativity
  • Relevance to the theme
  • Visual impact

Selected photos (including winners) may be displayed:

  • At Canning Youth Services and Libraries during Term 3 and Term 4, 2025.
  • On City of Canning’s social media, website, and printed publications.

Yes! You keep ownership of your photo.

However, by entering, you give the City of Canning permission to use your photo for promotion and display, with credit where possible.
