Score a win at Canning’s youth festival
10 September 2024

Youth Fest is back at Wyong Park and this year it is bigger and better, with the City of Canning launching its latest neighbourhood program – Streetsport – during the event. The program, funded by a grant from the Department of Justice, is a term-based program designed to engage young people in sports and skills sessions with the goal of connecting them to local sporting clubs and support services.

Mayor Patrick Hall expressed his enthusiasm for the event saying, “Youth Fest is the City’s largest event for young people, and we are incredibly excited to launch Streetsport as part of this celebration. This program is a fantastic opportunity for our youth to engage in positive activities, connect with local organisations, and build valuable life skills. Our City is committed to supporting our young people and providing them with opportunities to thrive, and Youth Fest is a great example of that commitment.”

“I encourage any parents who might be interested the Streetsport program to come down to YouthFest, say hello to the City’s Neighbourhood team, and register on the day”, he said.

Youth Fest will take place at the City’s popular location, Wyong Park in Bentley, on Friday 20 September from 3 pm to 7 pm. The event promises a range of free and exciting activities for everyone to enjoy.

Attendees can look forward to a range of free and exciting activities featuring giant inflatables, including a bouncy castle and gladiator duel, free food, a live Community Radio Station playing great music hits, and a photobooth to capture and print special moments.

In addition, the event will feature various activities in collaboration with local services such as Cannington headspace, MercyCare, Edmund Rice Centre WA, Watch Around Water, and Neighbourhood Watch.

This is a fantastic opportunity to connect with our city services, including Youth, Libraries, Leisureplex, and Community Safety Services, and learn more about the support and resources available to the community.

Youth Fest is all about bringing young people together for a day of fun, connection, and community engagement. This free event offers a safe, drug-, smoke-, and alcohol-free environment for families, young people, and the entire community to enjoy.
