More rebates for going green

The City of Canning is encouraging Canning residents to make more sustainable choices by offering rebates for going green on a bigger range of eco-friendly products.

Canning residents will be able to claim rebates on sustainable products including solar panels, waste reduction products, and services like composting equipment and repair services.

The rebates can be claimed online through Rebately, a third-party website that enables residents to claim cash back for sustainable purchases. Once approved, the rebate will be deposited directly into the nominated bank account within four weeks.

City of Canning Mayor Patrick Hall encourages residents to move towards more sustainable living options as there are both personal and environmental benefits.

“Purchasing sustainable products is not only good for the environment, but it also provides long term cost savings for the individual.

“Many sustainable products can also be reused, helping reduce waste and prevent pollution by reducing the need to harvest new raw materials.

“As the first local government in Western Australia to utilise the Rebately service, the City of Canning is so pleased to be able to offer rebates on a greater range of eco-friendly products and services, and it makes it even easier for residents to lodge their claims,” Mayor Hall said.

Rebately is a New South Wales Environment Protection Authority, Waste Less, Recycle More initiative, and the City of Canning is the first local government in Western Australia to utilise the service.

There are a limited number of rebates available for each product and service, and rebates may differ each financial year. For more information go to www.canning.wa.gov.au/ecorebates.
