Lens on Biodiversity Photo Competition Returns This September

The Lens on Biodiversity competition is back for Biodiversity Month 2025, inviting amateur photographers of all ages and skill levels to showcase their creativity while celebrating Canning’s natural environment.
Following an incredible response in 2024, the City of Canning encourages residents to explore local bush lands, wetlands, parks, and green spaces and capture what makes them special.
From tiny pollinators and fungi networks to interactions between water, land, and wildlife. The competition invites entries that highlight both the visible, what you easily notice on a walk, and the often-overlooked details of Canning’s rich biodiversity.
There are categories for children, youth, and adults, with a prize pool worth over $1,400 and selected photos to be featured in a public exhibition and community celebration later this year.
Entries open 1 September and close 30 September 2025.

Whether you're new to photography or simply enjoy nature, this is your moment to capture, share, and inspire through your lens, celebrating the beauty of Canning’s natural world.
