City of Canning launches inaugural Art Studio Trail

Calling all art lovers: the City of Canning’s local arts scene is set to burst into life for an exciting weekend in May, with the inaugural Canning Art Studio Trail. Taking place over the weekend of 17 and 18 May, this free, self-guided tour will feature the work of over 30 talented artists across 11 venues throughout the City. Visitors are invited to explore art hubs and private studios, where both acclaimed and emerging artists from Canning will be showcasing their work.
“Art plays a vital role in realising our vision to be a welcoming and thriving City,” explained City of Canning Mayor Patrick Hall. “As well as capturing our imagination, art has the potential to engage and transform communities, enrich culture and stimulate economic growth.”
“The Canning Art Studio Trail is a celebration of art within our City. We have some of Perth’s most talented artists right on our doorstep and I look forward to them opening their studio doors and creative spaces and sharing their inspiration with local and visiting art lovers.”
Open from 10am to 4pm on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 May, the trail offers a behind-the-scenes look at artist studios, with opportunities to engage with creators, gain insights into their vision and processes, and the chance to purchase or commission original artwork directly from the artists.
The Canning Art Studio Trail is a pilot project aimed at enhancing cultural development and supporting local artists. Inspired by the success of similar trails in nearby local governments, the City of Canning is excited to highlight the talented artists that call Canning home.
