Children’s Crossing Unit seeking new school traffic wardens
The State Government’s Children’s Crossing Unit is actively recruiting new school traffic wardens in the City of Canning and across the metropolitan area.
Traffic wardens are a valued part of our community and play an essential role in helping children travel to and from school safety. Through their work, they manage the flow of traffic to ensure children can cross roads safely, while also encouraging safer driving in busy school zones.
Those interested in becoming a traffic warden are urged to apply through the Children’s Crossing Unit website.
“I encourage all interested residents to jump on this opportunity. Our communities need traffic wardens to help keep children safe, and sadly a few of our schools don’t have one currently,” said Mayor Patrick Hall.
“Through a review of the 26 school in the City, it was discovered there is a shortage of traffic wardens in the City. This shortage needs urgent attention so parents and families can be sure children are going to get to school and home safely.”
Council has contacted the Premier, WA Police and the Children’s Crossing Unit seeking action. The Children’s Crossing Unit is in the process of filling the vacant positions within the City of Canning through their job application process. Priority will be given to applicants who reside near a current crossing site.
Schools, parents, community groups and residents can assist by promoting the vacancies and application process through newsletters, noticeboards and social media.
