Grow, learn and thrive at Riverton Library’s Community Open Day

The City of Canning will celebrate the community groups that call Canning Libraries home at Riverton Library’s first Community Open Day on Saturday 14 March.

From 1pm – 4pm, Riverton Library will transform into a buzzing hub of creativity, storytelling and connection, as the community is invited to come along and explore, how they can grow, learn and thrive at their local library.

From art collectives and craft circles to language groups and Makerspace regulars, visitors can wander through the library and meet the people behind these vibrant community groups.

There will be opportunities to discover what each group offers, find out how to participate or join, explore ways to volunteer, and enjoy informal demonstrations.

City of Canning Mayor Patrick Hall said local libraries and community groups offer so much and the upcoming Community Open Day is a great way to find out what’s available.

“Community groups foster social connection, promote community engagement and provide opportunities for personal growth and skill development.

“Riverton, Cannington and Willetton Libraries are home to a range of wonderful community groups. As a UNESCO Learning City, Canning is committed to lifelong learning for everyone, and our libraries play a vital role in bringing people together to learn, share skills and build community.

“I encourage everyone to come along, meet the groups that make our libraries so vibrant, and discover how you can grow, learn and thrive as part of our library community,” Mayor Hall said.

This is a free drop-in event that welcomes all, from new residents to long-time locals, or simply curious visitors. These community groups offer activities primarily for youth and adults aged 16 years and older.
