Throughout the year, the City of Canning holds approximately 15 community friendly events from its annual Major City Events Calendar.

The City has a diverse annual calendar of arts, cultural and family-friendly events which can be found on our Major City Events page. Most of these events offer artists, entertainers, community organisations, food trucks, food vendors and stall holders opportunities to get involved.

We invite you to participate in these events and help us to continue to shape Canning into the richly diverse, inclusive, welcoming and thriving City, it is.

Calling all talented Entertainers and Performers

We are always on the lookout for new and exciting talent and opportunities to bring our community events to life. This includes:

• stage and roving performers
• event activations
• stallholders
• food trucks and vendors
• volunteers.

If you’re interested in being part of one of our events, we’d love to hear from you! Don’t be shy – put your hand up and tell us a little about yourself, your business or what you can offer at our community events.

Your details will be added to our event database, which the Major City Events team regularly reviews when planning and programming our events throughout the year. While submitting an Expression of Interest does not guarantee participation at an event, it provides us with an opportunity to discover new talent, businesses, community groups and event partners for future opportunities.

What We Look for in Food Vendors

When selecting food vendors, we consider a range of factors, including:

• the location and audience of the event
• the types and variety of cuisine being offered
• menu variety and suitability
• affordability and value for money
• the overall mix of food vendors already participating in the event
• the ability to offer something that complements the event and provides our audiences with something different.

Pricing is an important consideration, as we want our events to remain accessible and provide food options to suit a range of tastes and budgets.

This event season, we are asking all food vendors to include some smaller-sized and more affordable menu options, helping ensure there are choices available for everyone. This is required if you are asked to trade with us at our community events.

Working with Our Food Vendors

Individually and collectively, the Major City Events team has developed strong working relationships with a wide range of food vendors over many years.

Each event season, we also welcome new vendors to our program. This allows us to introduce fresh and interesting food offerings, discover new local food businesses and give our audiences something a little different from event to event.

Where possible, we also seek to support local and small food businesses, providing opportunities for businesses to connect with new customers and showcase their food to our community.

We value the relationships we build with our vendors and aim to create a positive and collaborative experience for everyone involved.

Creating a Diverse Food Experience

Our approach is to create a diverse and enjoyable food experience that complements each event and contributes to the welcoming and inclusive atmosphere we want our community events to achieve.

Fees and Sustainability Requirements

If you are selected to trade at one of our community events, you will be required to pay the relevant vendor fee prior to the event. The current fees for ‘mains’ is $220; ‘desserts’ $150.00 and ‘non-alcoholic beverage’ vendors $110. All fees are inclusive of GST and subject to change each financial year.

As part of the City of Canning's commitment to sustainability, all food vendors are also required to use the reusable serve ware supplied by Go2Cup.

This is a free service for our vendors, with the city covering the cost as part of our sustainability program. Using reusable serve ware helps us reduce waste and minimise the environmental impact of our community events.

Express Your Interest

You are welcome to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to trade at our events at any time throughout the year.

Expressions of Interest forms are currently under review and will re-open shortly. Please check back soon for the updated forms and opportunities to get involved.

Once your EOI is received, your details will be added to our event season database. The Major City Events team reviews EOIs when selecting food vendors for individual events, taking into consideration the requirements of each event and the overall mix of vendors.

Submitting an EOI does not guarantee a place at an event. If we believe your business would be a good fit for one of our events, a member of the Major City Events team will contact you to discuss the opportunity.
