Applications are now open for creatives from Canning and further afield to take part in Gesturing Together: Creative Lab, a two-day collaborative artist workshop hosted by the City of Canning and SPACED. The workshop is open to early-to-mid career artists and takes place at the Hillview Intercultural Community Centre in Bentley from 6-7 June.
Gesturing Together brings together 20 WA-based artists for a chance to broaden ideas, exchanges and processes, collaborating with people and place. Following a selection process, artists representing a variety of creative disciplines will be invited to connect over a weekend of conversations, activities, peer-to-peer sharing, and talks presented by guest artists and experts. Lunch and catering will be provided.
“We recognise the importance of art in transforming the City of Canning into a welcoming and thriving City,” explained Mayor Patrick Hall. “This workshop, a first of its kind in Canning, will allow up-and-coming artists from the City and beyond to share their processes and experiences and learn from other artists.
“We have many talented creatives in Canning and the City is committed to creating opportunities for them to grow, thrive and succeed within the creative industries.”
Anyone interested in applying for a place in the Gesturing Together workshop can complete an expression of interest by 14 May by visiting bit.ly/GesturingTogether.
